Our Next Event
If you live in the central California area, plan to attend the San Juan Bautista Antiques Flea Market on Sunday August 8, 2010. This show has been reorganized and promises to be bigger and better than in the past. Mansmith’s Barbecue will be there selling tri tip sandwiches and enjoying the crowd. You never know what treasures you will find.
Barbecue on the Cheap
* Have everyone bring their own meat. Some will bring steaks, some will bring burgers and hot dogs, vegetarians can bring vegetables or veggie burgers, but everyone will be happy. Make sure you have enough grill space for everyone to get in on the cooking. Borrow from the neighbors if necessary.
* Rather than individual cans of soda, buy 2 liter size bottles and put them on ice, or make a big cooler of punch, lemonade or iced tea. If you want an alcoholic option, try sangria.
* Disposable paper goods and plastic cups are expensive. Go cheap and green by using your regular plates, silverware and glasses. A good place to buy extras is at a thrift store or discount store.
* Plan to buy barbecue equipment at the end of the season, when it’s on sale, so that you will be prepared for your next season’s cook out.
* Make sure you have a variety of Mansmith’s Seasonings so that everyone has a great tasting meal. There is a Mansmith’s seasoning for every kind of meat, vegetable and salad. For sure you have to have Mansmith’s Original Grilling Spice, our most popular blend, and a jar or two of Mansmith’s BBQ Paste for making sauces. Your guests will have a “grate” time playing with this one!
* Check our recipe pages for great ideas for sides and salads. A big pot of Easy Ranch Beans or Texas Ranch Beans will feed a crowd for pennies per person.
Grilled Cake & Fruit
* Fruit cooks quickly so watch that it doesn’t burn. Peaches, nectarines, apples and apricots take longer than pineapple, mangos and kiwi.
* Use toppings like ice cream, whipped topping, honey or vanilla yogurt. Don't forget the Cinnamon Stuff.
